Questions From Readers

Certain questions land in the Rain Urbana inbox week after week. Answering them once, in one place, saves everyone a wait. If yours is missing, the contact page explains how to ask it.

About the site

Who writes Rain Urbana?

Three writers working under pen names: Vashti Marchbank, Pernille Quarrell and Lowell Hensby. You can read a little about each of them, and about how an article is put together, on Behind the Wellness Notes.

Do any of the writers have medical training?

No. None of us has clinical training, and we say so openly. We read guidance from public health bodies and established references, then explain it in everyday language. That is why each article ends with signs that mean you should see a professional.

How do new topics end up on the site?

Mostly from questions people actually ask: in our inbox, in conversations with friends and family, and in the search phrases that keep coming up around everyday health. We focus on topics that busy adults can do something practical about.

Using the articles

Can I rely on an article to decide what to do?

Use it to understand the background and to prepare questions, not to make the final decision. A GP, pharmacist or dentist who knows your history is the right person for that. Read This Before Acting explains why.

Why don't you give doses or exact targets?

Because the right amount of almost anything, from a supplement to a training load, depends on the person. A number printed on a website can easily be wrong for you. Where general ranges are widely published, we describe them as rough guides only.

Where should I start if I'm new?

Foundations offers a short reading route with one small habit for each step. If you prefer to browse, Rest & Recovery is a popular first stop.

Corrections and contact

I think an article is wrong. What happens if I tell you?

We look at the point you raise, check it against current guidance and update the article if needed. Clear, specific messages are the quickest to act on, so please name the page and the sentence.

Will you answer my personal health question?

We are sorry, but no. It would not be safe for us to comment on individual symptoms or medicines. Please contact your own healthcare provider or a local advice line instead.

Do you store my email address?

Only for as long as we need to reply and deal with your message. Our Privacy Notice has the details.

Technical questions

Does the site track me?

No analytics, no advertising networks and no tracking scripts. The only thing stored is your answer to the cookie card, kept in your own browser. See Cookies in Plain Words.

Can I share an article?

Please do. Share the link freely, and if you quote a short passage, credit Rain Urbana and link back to the page.

Tell us what you think.

A short note is enough.
